Editing cookie details
A clean description on each cookie helps your visitors understand what they're agreeing to and makes your audit trail easier to read.
Open the inventory
Open your project and go to Cookies → Inventory.
Edit a description
Find the cookie in the list. Click the edit icon next to the description.
Type a short, plain-English explanation of what the cookie does. A sentence or two is plenty. For example:
"Tracks visits to our checkout page so we can measure conversion."
"Stores your language preference so we don't ask you again."
Click Save. The new description appears on the cookie row right away.
What makes a good description
Short. One or two sentences. People scan these on the banner.
Plain language. Skip the technical detail. Say what the cookie does, not how.
Honest. If a cookie is for advertising, say so. Visitors are quicker to trust a banner that's straightforward.
Updating the category
The category sits next to the description. Changing it is covered separately in Categorizing cookies, where you can also change many cookies at once.
Permissions
Owners and Admins can edit cookie descriptions. Users can view the inventory but cannot edit it.
