Banner not appearing

If you've installed the One Privacy snippet and the banner still isn't showing, work through this list. One of these is almost always the cause.

1. Open the website in a fresh session

Browser caches sometimes hide newly added scripts. Open the website in an incognito or private window. The banner should appear within a couple of seconds.

If it appears in incognito but not in your regular window, your browser had cached the page. Hard refresh with Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac).

2. Confirm the snippet is on the page

Right-click the page and choose View page source. Search for oneprivacy.

If you don't see the snippet, the install didn't take effect. Re-install following the right guide:

Install with Google Tag Manager.

Install on WordPress.

Install on Shopify.

3. Check you've published the banner to Live

In One Privacy, open Customization. Confirm the banner has been Published to Live. If you only saved a draft or published to Test, the Production snippet won't have anything to show.

See Publishing to Live.

4. Confirm the right environment

The Test snippet only loads banners published to Test. The Production snippet only loads banners published to Live.

If your live website has the Test snippet by mistake, swap it for Production.

5. The visitor has already accepted

If you've already accepted (or rejected) the banner on a previous visit, One Privacy remembers and won't show the banner again. To verify the banner exists, open the floating button (the small persistent icon) and check that the Cookie Settings popup opens.

To force the banner to reappear for testing, clear cookies for your website or use an incognito session.

6. Cookies blocked or browser in strict mode

Strict privacy modes in some browsers block first-party cookies. One Privacy stores the visitor's choice in a cookie, so if cookies are fully blocked, the banner may keep reappearing or behave unexpectedly. Test in a normal browser session first.

7. CDN or page cache

If your website is behind a CDN or aggressive page caching plugin (Cloudflare, WP Super Cache, Shopify cache), changes to your HTML can take a few minutes to propagate. Purge the cache and reload.

8. Conditional script loading

If your developer added the snippet inside a conditional block (for example, only loading it in certain regions), check that condition is being met on the test page.
