Multilingual banners

If your visitors speak more than one language, your banner should too. One Privacy lets you add as many languages as you need and translate every field independently.

Add a language

In your project, open Customization. Click the language dropdown at the top of the screen and choose Add language.

Add Language modalThe Add Language modal with a search field and a list of supported languages.banner-add-language.png

In the modal:

Search for the language by name (in English or in its native form) or by code.

Tick the languages you want to add. You can add several at once.

Copy from an existing language to start with that language's text and translate from there. Helpful if you've already polished your English copy.

Click Add Language (or Add N Languages if you've selected more than one).

Translate the content

Once a language is added, switch to it using the language dropdown. The content fields update to show that language's version. Edit each field with the right translation and the live preview updates instantly.

The fields that need translating include the banner policy text, every button label, the Cookie Settings titles and descriptions, and the floating button labels.

How language detection works

When the banner loads on your website, it picks the right language based on the visitor's browser settings. If a visitor's preferred language isn't available, the banner falls back to your default language (usually English).

You can also override the language with a geo rule. See Geo rules overview.

Preview a language

Above the live preview, a small dropdown lets you switch the preview to any of the languages you've added. Useful for sanity-checking your translations before publishing.

The Cookie Settings popup has its own set of translatable fields (titles, descriptions, and category text). They're translated the same way: switch to the language and edit the fields under the Cookie settings tab.
